“Thursday Night Vibes” and Choice
I am a big believer in the immense power of mindset. There is nothing more powerful in this world than the power we all have to think differently at any given instance. This hit home for me recently when someone asked me my favorite time of the week. Immediately I knew it was Thursday night, because the weekend stretches out deliciously before me; even a hectic Friday doesn’t dampen the spirit of anticipation of the weekend to come and the knowledge that I can sleep in, linger over my coffee, read a book, putter around. That in itself isn’t all that interesting or unique. What was a revelation for me in that moment was the realization that there isn’t anything inherently good or better about Thursday night compared to Monday night; it’s that I choose to impart this joy on it. And by thinking good thoughts about Thursday I make myself happy. I manifest happiness. I feel good because I choose to feel good. One thing I’d like to add - from personal experience - is that there are times when a biochemical depression is in the mix and it changes the game, makes it much harder to see make these conscious choices. In those moments, I try to remember that “this too shall pass”, and I will again be in a frame of mind where I can choose.
